WysePower was awarded Contractor of the Month in July by Hitachi Zosen Innova (HZI) for exemplary health and safety behaviour on site of the Newhurst Energy Recovery Facility near Shepshed, Leicestershire.

The team were awarded a £100 voucher in recognition for their outstanding contribution towards Behavioural Safety on site and going above and beyond their normal duties.

The Newhurst Energy Recovery Facility is a recycling and energy-from-waste facility. HZI is the principal contractor appointed to build the premises. WysePower were approached to install and maintain temporary lighting throughout the project, as well as make connections for commissioning systems.

We’re delighted to be recognised for our diligence to safe working on site. Our operatives completed all the works requested by the health and safety team with an approachable, can-do attitude which really impressed HZI.”

The facility aims to become a vital outlet for the sustainable treatment of up to 350,000 tonnes of residual waste per year. In addition, it is expected to generate up to 42 megawatts of low carbon energy – enough to power around 80,000 homes.

Construction started in June 2020 and work is due to be completed in 2023.
