WysePower has been appointed to provide a series of temporary site services to the Port Street residential scheme in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.

Port Street is a major development on an existing 0.54-hectare site most recently used as surface car parking. The development includes the provision of around 485 residential units, as well as basement car parking, public spaces, and hard and soft landscaping.

WysePower liaised with Electricity North West Limited (ENWL) to allow connection onto a new temporary substation to provide power for the project and other temporary site services. This includes the installation of temporary supplies to serve as an extensive welfare compound, installation of temporary power, lighting, mechanical supplies, and site evacuation alarms to serve construction activities for the duration of works.

“We have a longstanding relationship with Renaker thanks to our excellent track record of delivering successful projects,” said Ian Green, Operations Director. “On this project, the construction team engaged with me early on and we had a good opportunity to work with Renaker to develop the scope of works. We have extensive knowledge of the previous use of the land in this particular area of the city, and we were able to share this with Renaker to help them with the location of services that are within the footprint of the site boundary.”
